Valentine's Day

The Smallest Gestures Matter:

I grew up being a daddy’s girl and my dad always made it a point to make me feel special everyday but, especially on valentines. He would show up at the end of the night with a small bear, a box of chocolates, a card and a balloon. It didn’t matter how we were doing financially, he made it happen. It wasn’t the largest bear or the most expensive chocolates but, it meant the world to me. The fact that I was that special to him, that after a long day at work he thought of me and stopped at a store to get me something that said he loved me and he was thinking of me meant the world. Being the mother of three girls I always tell my husband, “it’s your duty to make them feel loved and protected, you want them to one day marry a man like you.” A woman’s standards are defined by her father, make those standards high because they deserve the best. Not everyone is creative or detailed in that manner so here is how I help my husband: every year after that special holiday the stores reduce everything to 50% and I run to the store and buy bears, cards or anything else I find cute for the following year. I hide it in the closet and BAM he’s covered not only for that day but, for life. They will always remember how it made them feel. I have to tell you, they love it. They are truly daddy’s little girls. This way we don’t break the bank and he is always covered. They will take those small tokens in their hearts forever!
