                                     My Cuba Adventure:

For my 10 year wedding anniversary I decided to celebrate it in a place that is dear to my husband’s heart, Cuba. I figured it would be a great idea because it wasn’t only a mini vacation to celebrate our marriage, it was some much needed adult time and an emotional journey for my husband to see where his family was from. I was a bit hesitant to leave the kids and go to a communist country where I had no idea what to expect, therefore I went with no expectations and my guard up. I was extremely surprised to say the least. It was a beautiful island with so much history and change. It felt like I was in a time capsule and was sent back to the 50’s. The classic cars and old architecture was pretty amazing. Like many other places there were older run down towns but, there was also such beauty to be admired. The crystal clear turquoise waters, soft white sand and great music had much to appreciate. Everyone was friendly and had a lot to say. It’s amazing how everyone knows each other and what was even more surprising was to find decade’s later people who knew and remembered my husband’s family. They shared great stories and even pictures. “La Havana Vieja” was gorgeous, the architecture, the history, busy streets filled with salsa music and good food was a must see. Not only did I get to have some one on one with my husband and enjoy being able to focus on one another (as you know it’s pretty difficult to do when you have kids) but, I was able to make memories that will last a life time. Everyone should go at least once in their lives, especially if your roots are from Cuba. I definitely shed some tears before I left because you become so accustomed to your daily life and your children, that the thought of change becomes scary.
