How to Make Easter Fun, Pretty and Inexpensive

Tips and Tricks:

I love celebrating resurrection day (Easter) at home with family and friends. It easy to hit up a dollar store and take whatever you find to decorate, that’s a NO, NO. Get fun ideas from Pinterest or Google. There is no better feeling for me than to get compliments on my décor from the minute people walk into my house. If you don’t care about detail than this blog isn’t for you. If you like it but have no idea how to recreate it than listen up. Since, I know every year certain holidays will always be celebrated at my residence then I try to prepare wayyyyyyy in advance. What does this mean? Well, the year before I hit up all the sales after the specific holiday like Easter, Christmas and Thanksgiving because, everything is 50-70% off the original price. Many times I don’t have time to go to the big stores so I go to CVS, Walgreens, Marshalls and even Publix, you’d be surprise the cute things you find. Of course, I don’t purchase any candy a year in advance, I’m not trying to cause a diarrhea epidemic in my home. Another handy savings tip is I always save the eggs for the following year. Once the kids eat their candy I keep the eggs and recycle for the following years, I actually can’t remember the last time I bought eggs. Here are some fun tips to make things fun, cheap and look good:

  • Buy dark green cringe looking paper grass to use under the cupcake and cake plates
  • Cupcake toppers make everything look adorable (check out Marshalls or TJMaxx)
  • The dollar stores have great little butterflies you can add to the grass to give it a more real and pretty look (follow my Instagram for pics @amomstrilogy03)
  • Buy faux flowers from Michaels with coupons or even the dollar store has great ones and put inside a nice vase. (for a more real look cut them in uneven sizes to give depth)
  • Bar-b-que burgers and hot dogs (Aldi’s is a great bang for your buck)
  • Buns for both burgers and hotdogs
  • Don’t forget the ketchup, mustard and mayo (Sam’s Club sells a large kit at a good price)
  • 2 or 3 different assortments of chips/ Salsa if you’re doing tortilla chips
  • 2 different types of sodas, beer, wine (for my ladies) and water
  • Cupcakes/Cake from Publix or you can make it if you love baking and have the time (it’s a good excuse to spend time with the kids and do something fun)
  • Tablecloths (2 different colors of your choice), napkins and utensils
  • If you’re into pictures and decorating a backdrop gives everything an extra OOMPH! (check out @Amazon, my go to)
  • Oh yea, I almost forgot, I always recycle baskets as well and it always comes in handy for the kid that didn’t bring one for the egg hunt
  • If you have a pool, have everyone bring bathing suits and towels. If you don’t buy a volleyball/soccer ball/football for the kids to play. If you have a lot of girls hula-hoops and bubbles are great and you can get them anywhere for a dollar
Well I think I gave you all my tips and tricks. Hope it’s useful and you enjoy a beautiful day with family and friends. Happy Easter/ Resurrection Day!
