Quinces Planning
The headache is real:
I remember the day I had my first born like it was
yesterday. I remember how I felt, how beautiful she was, her smell and how I knew
she had my heart forever. Oddly enough, one of my clearest thoughts, for some
reason was how I was going to celebrate her fifteens and the day she gets
married. I know my mind went pretty far in advance for it just being day 1 but,
I was over joyed with emotion to think this little tiny human that came out of
me was one day going to be a beautiful young lady, and here we are today,
almost fifteen years later. I can’t believe time has flown by. Throughout the
years every time I thought of celebrating her fifteens it would give me
butterflies in my stomach and bring tears to my eyes, I guess it’s just the
proud mommy thing in me. This is such a special moments that marks the end of
childhood and the beginning of early adult life. She will be my baby forever
but, the reality is, she’s growing up and I couldn’t be happier and prouder,
therefore, we decided a celebration was a must. Not to mention we are proud Hispanics
and a quinciaƱera party comes with Latin American traditions. So, here we are
in the beginning stages of planning a quinces, hope this assists other parents
in the planning process. Oh, and make sure you start at least a year in
advance, it’s a bit crazy and hard to find places and specific dates. I have
six months to get this together and here I go on this rollercoaster ride.
Guide:
1-Pick a date and two other alternative ones just in case
2-Decide on a theme
3-Take down a guest list to have an approximate amount (stick
to friends and family that you actually keep in touch with)
4-Come up with a budget (try to stick to it, easier said than
done)
5-Start shopping for photographers (@bellaquinces was my
pick)
6-Make sure you shop around for different venues until you
find exactly what you’re looking for (don’t settle, make sure your happy with
what you chose)
7-Start looking for centerpieces you like in order to get
prices (most venues have packages that include: cakes, centerpieces, linen, DJ,
etc.)
8-Pick invites and get them out at least 6 months in advance
as out of towners should have enough time to make arrangements, otherwise send
a save a date.
9-Review your options on food and drinks (try to have a
tasting, you don’t want to be surprised the day of)
10-Lastly, speak to your daughter and have her take part,
you want this to be what she wants. If she’s anything like my daughter, she
left it all to me and just chose a color scheme (makes it easier on me).
Enjoy every minute of it. This is a very special day and
age. Start going thru all your old pictures and videos, you will need them for
the party. As I continue the process I will share more.
