Trying To Make the Most of Every Minute of the Day
Multi-Tasking 24/7:
My mornings usually start at about 5:00AM, I usually go to
the gym for 45 minutes and return home but, for the last month and a half I haven’t
gone and I have to tell you I am dreading to start all over again. So, now I wake
up at about 5:45AM and begin my race against time. I shower, brew coffee, put
laundry to wash while setting up lunches, washing dishes and trying to get
dressed to go to work. I would probably make my life a bit easier if I pick out
my outfits ahead of time (I’m going to give this a shot next week, let’s see if
it does make a difference). I’m most productive in the morning, don’t get this
confused with being a morning person. Once the coffee is brewed, I get my kids
up for school (which is always a challenge as they function in slow motion). By
the time I get out of the house, disburse children and get to work, I am beat!
I can thank coffee for my recharge once I get to work. Once, I am at work I am
trying to focus on working, while playing assistant and scheduling doctor’s
appointments, event planning and taking two minutes to breathe. It’s sad but I
get a break when I go to the bathroom at work because, at home not even that is
sacred! Once we come out of work we are back on the run, picking up kids,
setting up for dinner, dropping off kids at practices, doing homework, etc.…. (I’m
exhausted just writing this). This is why Mother’s Day is the one day a year we
get to demand time and attention. We don’t always need fancy gifts, all we need
is time, time to ourselves. Since, many times we end up planning and setting up
the celebrations, we don’t get that much needed break we desire so, here are
some ways we can make the most out of our time and maybe sneak in a break:
1-Don’t spend time paying bills one at a time, try to set up
everything on automatic and set up reminders.
2-When you go in the shower LOCK the door and don’t reply to
anything, if there’s an emergency they can call 911! LOL
3-Put a leave in treatment and a face mask while you are
washing dishes or sweeping the floors, you come out with two benefits.
4-If you have older kids get them to partake in chores (at
least have them put their own laundry in the washer and put away the clothes
after you fold it).
5-Pop that bottle of wine, pump some 90’s music up and clean
the house while getting some much needed cardio.
6-I like to use headsets while on the phone in order to be
able to do other things while having a conversation.
7-lucky number seven, I use amazon prime for allllllll my
shopping. My kids love to tell me last minute that they need a book, athletic
equipment, t-shirt for a project and so much more. Amazon is a touch away,
usually has everything I’m looking for and arrives in 2 days max. Can’t beat
that! I don’t have to deal with getting in my car and driving around town
seeking for things.
I know I hate to do anything when I get home like, cooking
and pre-planning for the following day but, I’m going to try it next week and
see how it goes. I’ll keep you posted of all the pros and cons of pre-planning.
