Cake Table

All you need to know:

Finally baptized my last baby this past weekend. Events are hectic and stressful no matter how small they are but, a great outcome is very fulfilling and joyous. The main thing I focus on is the cake table then, I go into the food. Again, everyone tells me why is the cake so important to you? I feel, a beautifully decorated cake table and a delicious cake is the one thing people remember when they leave (at least that’s what I always hear). Comments are usually about how pretty it was or how delicious the cake was or both. I’ve said it before, it shows time and thought in the party planning process. For me decorating is a passion and a therapy. I get lost in thoughts, ideas and planning. I’m going to give you the most important steps in making a beautiful cake table. I can tell you another thing that makes everything even more rewarding, and that is finding things at a fraction of the price also known as bargain shopping. Do some research, call places, google and use Pinterest. Many people tell me where do I start? I always start by picking a theme or color scheme according to the event. I try to steer away from the usual party themes for kids birthday’s or if I totally have to go with a usual theme, like Mickey Mouse because my kids are obsessed then I know I have to give it a twist to make it original. Take for example, a seasonal theme, change the color scheme or focus on one character more than the rest. It will give it a different look and your own personal touch to make it original. Then I go into google and Pinterest and get ideas, take pictures and gather my thoughts. Once I am sure of what I want then I start looking into the cakes and whether I want a one tier, two or three, fondant or butter cream, start getting prices. If I can add some décor myself to save money I do. Here are my top ten must haves in order to have a fabulous cake table:

1-Find a great cake that matches your theme

2-Cake plate/dish/stand is essential to give it that extra OOMPH!

3-Cupcake with toppers make the table more enticing! (Don’t overdo it, just add 8-12 mini cupcakes)

4-Table cloth is very important to cover up the table. A solid color always brings out everything on top.

5-Dimension (add different heights by using stands, boxes, bins, or anything else you’d like)

6-favors are a big part of saying thank you for coming, make it a focus point by decorating it with personalized tags, bows, sacks, etc.

7-Flowers (use a vase, Mason jar, lantern or even a garland) it just gives it a classy touch. If it’s an evening or dim place candles make a world of a difference to give it that glimmer.

8-Find frames, signs, toys, props or anything that relates to the theme in order to use it for décor. Take for example my daughters christening, I used “God Bless” signs, crosses, and other religious props.

9-Add a picture, spell out the name in letters or a monogram of the initial to personalize the area and event.

10- Lastly, a backdrops is the final touch to any table. It’s not only great for pictures but, it’s that final touch to complete your table.

I hope this helps you put on a nice event to be proud of, no matter how small or big it is.
